Time to Prime

primer

Why a primer should be used: A primer is a preparatory base to give foundation a smoother finish.

First let’s talk about your skin. Would you like your skin to be softer and younger looking would you like your skin to look a bit more flawless? Would you like your liquid foundation to go on more smoothly? If you answered yes to any of these questions than it is time to try a primer.

In the past I didn’t realize the perks to using a primer. Now that I have tried it I am hooked. I love the way it helps with the application of my foundation. I am impressed with the fact it seals the pores. I am pleased that it helps reduce the look of lines and wrinkles.

Facts about Primer:

  • It will help lessen the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles…..count me in!
  • It seals your pores…..if you have small pores count your blessings, if you have larger pores Primer is a must have.
  • It softens your skin…..soft skin is in!
  • It will help give liquid foundation a smoother finish….cakey look is out!
  • It helps your makeup last longer…..I could use a little stay power!
  • It matches any skin type or tone….phew I don’t have to play the guessing game!
  • It reduces redness and doesn’t cause skin irritation….say farewell to itchy reactions!
  • It is easy to apply….not a time consuming process!

There are tons of primers on the market to choose from.  Currently I am using Smashbox Iconic Photo Finish Foundation Primer. I like how it gives my skin a more flawless look. It is light weight and goes on smoothly. It is worth the few seconds it takes to add Primer to your beauty routine.

Look for a primer in your favorite makeup line or try Smashbox.

  • I hope this post was helpful. I hope you have a wonderful evening. Be adventurous and try something new.

What about a Soak:

I hope you have had a wonderful week. What better way to enjoy the weekend than to take a bit of time to pamper yourself. Take some time to unwind and let the stress of the week disappear. When you unwind so does your skin! What do you do to relax and pamper yourself? Have you tried an essential oil soaking bath? If you haven’t I suggest you try it. Not only will it relax you, but the oils will soften your skin as you soak. There is a variety of oils you can use. Which oil depends on what you want to accomplish. If it is relaxation you seek: Lavender oil would be the one to use. Not only is it calming and sleep inducing it also is beneficial for your hair and skin.

A recipe I like to use is:

2 drops of lavender

2 drops eucalyptus

2 drops grapefruit

The smell is wonderful! You will feel like you are at the Spa.

Do you want a fragrant floral soak? Here is a recipe to try:

1 to 2 drops Geranium

1 drop Orange

1 drop Bergamot

Do you want to be uplifted? This recipe is wonderful to use in the morning.

1 to 2 drops Lemongrass

1 to 2 drops Orange

1 drop Rosemary

I enjoy using essential oils and discovering new scent combinations. They help with so many different areas, from achy muscles to problem skin. Your skin feels soft and silky using oils.

I hope you have enjoyed this post. If you have any questions feel free to email. Have a wonderful weekend and take time to pamper the skin you are in!

Let’s Talk Moisture:

FullSizeRender(4)

When you were younger did you think to moisturize your skin every night? I sure didn’t. My mom would always tell me to treat my skin kindly and moisturize as a teenager. I didn’t pay too much attention to that advice. As the years past I realized moisturizing your skin helped with the application of foundation. When your skin is soft and supple foundation will go on smoothly and evenly. Not to mention soft and supple skin helps combat wrinkles as you mature.

My grandmother had beautiful glowing skin, she told me her secret to her skin was cold cream every night and a lighter moisturizer in the morning. My mom followed her advice and I have followed the advice as well.

Every night I use Olay. I have found it is a bit too heavy for my skin for morning use, but for night use it is perfect. Lately I have been adding 2 to 3 drops of rose essential oil and I am very pleased with how my skin looks and feels in the morning. Rose oil helps balance moisture levels in the skin, reduces the appearance of imperfections, and promotes an even skin tone and healthy complexion not to mention it smells wonderful. You can also use 1 drop of Geranium essential oil to help with wrinkle reduction and help with acne.

My morning moisturize of choice currently is Garnier Ultra-Lift Miracle Wake-Up Cream. It is light and leaves the skin soft and hydrated. I really am pleased with the overall look and feel of my skin with this product. I am also pleased with how well my foundation applies since I have added this product to my morning routine.

I hope this has been helpful. Let me know your thoughts. Remember to pamper your skin and treat it lovingly.

Own Your Look:

When you walk into your favorite makeup store and begin to soak in all the colours and beauty you are surrounded with what inspires you? Is it that beautiful red lipstick or that pretty pink lip gloss? Maybe it is that shimmering powder. Do you want to make a bold statement or a subtle expression?

Think of your face as a canvas and you are an inspiring artist. Makeup should be an expression of you. Make it your own. Trends are great and we all want to be trendy in our own way, the secret is your uniqueness is your trend.

Don’t be afraid to put your best face forward. Embrace your style and own it. Find your beauty and enhance and refine it. Whether it is your lips, cheeks or eyes make them your signature.

The important thing to take hold of is you are beautiful; you have the capacity to achieve what you set your mind to. Master the brushes, learn highlighting and contour, and don’t be afraid of colourful pallets.

If you’re inspired to wear black lipstick then rock those lips! If you want to look more natural then own your beauty!

I hope you have a wonderful day! Find your inspiration and aspire to great things!

Wing those eyes

Today’s look includes NYC liquid eyeliner in black. I must say I am very pleased with the smooth application of this product. It also lasts all day. If you want a precision winged/cat eye try NYC liquid liner. Brushes make a difference. To accomplish the shading I used Crown Brush. To finish off the look I used Ardell Lashes No.105. I hope you have a wonderful day and hopefully some inspiration from this post.

Let’s get scrubbing

I have found the most important step to makeup application is to have soft skin. I personally like to exfoliate once a week. There are many products you can use. I like to use St. Ives Apricot Facial Scrub when I have not made my own exfoliation mix.

DIY Scrub

2 tablespoons brown sugar

1 tablespoon honey

you can add essential oil to this recipe I like to use lavender.

Mix your ingredients…pull your hair back and gently apply in circles on face and neck.

The honey in this DIY recipe leaves your skin incredibly soft, and the sugar helps remove dry dead skin. #skin #exfoliate #makeup

A makeup journey

Since I was a little girl makeup has been a passion of mine. From bold and daring to subtle and more natural I have tried it. I have had makeup mishaps to makeup successes. Through trial and error I have been refining the way I enhance my features. I am not a MUA, but if you are willing to follow me on my journey I will share tips and review products that will help refine the art of makeup application.
