Fallen Leaves * Review of City Color Eyeshadow Trio*

Hello all of you stunning beauties! I hope your week is going wonderfully, it has been a beautiful week and I have been enjoying the warmer weather.

Today I am going to review City Color Eyeshadow Trio in Fallen Leaves. I received this eyeshadow trio in a previous Ipsy GlamBag. To be honest when I first received it I wasn’t overly excited about it. I thought ok hmmm fall colours, not something I am interested in at this moment, but I decided to try them out. Don’t let the name fool you this trio is wonderful for all seasons.

I am so glad I didn’t wait till cooler weather to experiment with this eyeshadow trio. The brown in this trio is stunning.  It has a shimmery coppery affect, quite lovely. The colours complement each other wonderfully and look amazing on blue eyes. I cannot say how they look on other eye colours because my eyes are blue.

The pigmentation is very nice and it is long lasting. One application is all you need. At $5.00 this eyeshadow is budget friendly and is an absolute beauty bargain!  They offer two shade selections in this eyeshadow trio: Fallen Leaves and Blooming Flowers.

Here is what the company states:

City Color Eyeshadow Trio features three complimentary shades in one travel-friendly palette.

Available in limited quantities, these exclusive palettes are only available to subscribers of the ipsy GlamBag for January 2016 and directly from Collect both palettes for every day wear!

I agree with what the company has said. The packaging is compact so it can be added to your carry along makeup bag for when you are on the go, and it seals nicely so no worries about it opening.

The colors are complementary and can be used for everyday wear.

You can view this shadow along with the whole line of products at City Color Cosmetics

Blushing Time *Review of Elizabeth Mott Show Me Your Cheeks blush*

Hello you radiant beauties. Today I would like to talk to you about Elizabeth Mott cosmetics Blush.

I received the blush in my ipsy bag a month or so ago and it has quickly become my go to blush. It is so versatile. I can use it for a more natural look or a bolder look.  It blends beautifully, well pigmented and lasts all day.

Application is easy. It goes on smooth and evenly. The color I have is Peach Pink and it is a lovely shade. It is well complemented with contouring and gives your cheeks a beautiful glow.

The company states:

  • It is long lasting. I agree, I have never had to touch it up.
  • The color is bold, but not over-powering, again I agree. You can apply it for a subtle natural look or play it up more for a bolder look.
  • Defines your cheekbone. Yes it does and especially when you couple it with contouring.

At $23 it is a good value due to the fact it is long lasting and does not need to be touched-up.

All in all I say this is a beauty YAY.

I hope you enjoyed this post. For more information about Elizabeth Mott Cosmetics view their website at Elizabeth Mott Cosmetics

The Power of Nude *Review of BelláPierre Cosmetics Nude Gel Lip Liner Pencil*

I received BellaPierre Cosmetics Nude Gel Lip Liner Pencil in my May Ipsy Glam Bag and I am not one that does nude looks very often so I wasn’t sure if this was going to be a beauty Yay for me.

Let me start of by saying I was pleased it was a full size lip liner. The retail value of the full size is $18.00, so it was a beauty savings to receive this product in my glam bag.

My May Glam Bag from Ipsy

I was pleased with the color it is a subtle yet noticeable color. Some nudes are so light they are barely detectable.  Since it is a gel liner it glides on smoothly which is always nice. It can be sharpened with any sharpener. It is long lasting and is versatile; you can use this color with different shades for your own unique look.

The company states it is *Formulated with pure minerals, natural waxes, and antioxidants, these are hypoallergenic and safe for all skin types.  I like the fact it’s made with more natural ingredients, this is always beneficial for your skin.

About the website…There are some sites out there that how shall I say, a bit less desirable when it comes to navigation. BellaPierre has a user friendly site with easy navigation. It also offers international sites which is always nice for those of us who are not located in the States.

All in all I am very pleased I received this product in the May GlamBag. If you haven’t tried Ipsy click the link and discover beauty finds waiting for you. Ipsy

Beauty and Music

The post I am making this evening is a bit different and not about makeup or beauty tips per say, I would like to explore the beauty of music. Today I was able to attend a wonderful concert at The Burlington Performing Arts Centre. It was truly a delightful concert, the orchestra was superb. The selection of music was exceptional. The concert was titled Last Night of the PROMS and it was a brilliant array of promenade music.

It is said music is good for the soul, I must agree. Music is very relaxing and for the time you are captivated in the magical sounds you completely lose yourself in the melodic notes tempting your ears.

I found myself smiling and for that moment in time there were no other thoughts other than the splendour of the masterpiece I was listening too.  Maestro Claudio Vena is a wonderfully captivating Music Director and Conductor. He is quiet delightful and he has a gift for drawing the audience into the symphonic notes of the instruments.

The talent of the members of the orchestra was astounding. I have such a respect for the art of music and each of the members deserves a standing ovation. I find myself in awe of the beauty one can accomplish with an instrument. For the exquisiteness of the composition presented today I say Bravo.

So how does music help with beauty? Is music calming to you, do you find yourself relaxing and enjoying the piece of music you are listening too? When you relax so do your muscles, when your muscles relax tension is released.

Why is it important to relax your muscles and allow tension to slip away? The effects of stress and tension can cause:

  • Fluid to build under your eyes
  • It can cause acne breakouts
  • It can cause dry skin because when you are tense and stressed you are less likely to drink water
  • Furrowing of the brow which in turn can cause wrinkles

These are just a few things stress and muscle tension can cause. Can you see how music can help with the overall well being of your beauty?

Do you smile when you listen to certain types of music? Why smiling is important:

  • It boosts your mood
  • It works the muscles in your face
  • It relieves stress *stress causes wrinkles*
  • It is easier to smile than to frown
  • It can help you land a job or get promoted…smiling makes you seem more sociable and confident
  • Smiling makes you look more attractive

I hope you will find some inspiration in this post and find some time to relax and enjoy music. Music can be beneficial for your beauty and I hope I was able to show that in my writing. If you are in the Burlington Area I hope you will check out The Burlington Performing Arts Centre and take in a concert or two.

Thank you for taking the time to read my blog and have a wonderful week.

Wings so sharp they could Cut! *Makeup Review*

Today I decided to try Smashbox Cosmetics Photo Angle Pure Pigment Gel Liner in Sapphire.

First I like how it has the screw on lid! I am constantly loosing lids to my eyeliners, especially in my purse! There is nothing worse than eyeliner or lip liner marks in your purse. Next I like that it has a soft rubber tip, this allows for a precision winged/cat eye! It has a twist knob at the bottom to allow more gel, *do not over twist. You want the gel just at the tip not extending past the tip.

Color….I love the color. It is an amazing blue. Quite beautiful actually. It would pair beautifully with neutral shades of eyeshadow or it would rock with bolder shades.

Application…at first it was a bit clumpy, but I think it was due to it being the first time used, or it may have been me since it was my first time using this type of liner. Once I became used to the flow of the tip I was winging my eyes sharp enough to cut lol.

All in all I say YAY to the gel liner with its wonderful soft rubber tip applicator. I will definitely be adding more to my makeup vault!

Take a look in the Mirror

Hello Beauties! I hope everyone is having a wonderful week thus far. Today I want to talk to you about discovering your best feature. First I want you to grab a mirror and take a few moments to look at your features. What feature stands out the most to you? Do you have big beautiful eyes, perfect lips, gorgeous high cheekbones, flawless skin? What about your nose? Sometimes we may be surprised when we take a moment and be honest with ourselves. I used to think my best feature was my lips, but I have since discovered my eyes are my best feature. I am continually learning how to enhance my eyes so they are the first thing people notice.

When you discover your best feature you want to highlight that feature so that it stands out and draws attention. This can be accomplished by highlighting and contouring for the lips, nose and cheekbones.

For the eyes; you want to choose colors that enhance the color and make them stand out. You will also want to highlight under the eyes and the top upper corner close to the brow.

Sometimes we get into a routine and we are fearful of changing how we do things. I say it is time to change your outlook and try something new. You might be surprised by the way you feel. The key to beauty is confidence. Grow the confidence you have within yourself. Be confident in the look you are wanting to achieve, when you have confidence your Beauty will shine.

I will be posting highlight and contour tips very soon, so be sure to check back often. I enjoy hearing from you, so if you have a question feel free to leave a comment or email. If there is a tip you would like more information on I will do my best to expand on the topic.

Have a wonderful week. Step out in confidence and walk with your head high because honey you are Beautiful!

Do your legs twitch

Today I am going to do a bit different post. I hope this will be helpful to someone that suffers with RLS (restless leg syndrome). My husband suffers with RLS and we have had many sleepless nights. He has had it for years and for those who have it understand the exhaustion you suffer when you have a full blown episode. Lately his RLS has been relentless. I think we have tried everything to help relieve the symptoms from Ivory soap bar at the foot of the bed under the sheet…which did not help; to pickle juice. FYI the pickle juice is great if you are having leg cramps, but doesn’t help with RLS.

I have spent many nights massaging his legs to try and give him some relieve from the twitchy, ants crawling on the skin feeling. Nothing seemed to help. I use essential oils and decided to make a mix for him. At first he was very reluctant. His exact words were “there is no way oils are going to help; you must be out of your mind”.

Finally about 3 weeks ago his RLS was in full blown mode and decided to try the mix. Within 5 minutes the symptoms subsided. He was shocked and honestly so was I. The next night he used the mix again and viola no symptoms again. He was actually able to rest! The next evening he said I want to try something instead of using the mix you made use something else; I want to see if it has a placebo effect. So we did and twitchy was back. Now he is faithful in using the mix and his legs are doing remarkably better.

The mix I used is:

  • ½ tbls carrier oil (I like to use sweet almond, but you can use vegetable oil or an oil of your choice.)
  • 3 drops Lavender
  • 3 drops Rosemary
  • 3 drops Peppermint

The key ingredient that helps RLS is Lavender, the Rosemary and Peppermint helps relive muscle pain. *Please note do not use if you have a reaction to lavender.

You can also just use the lavender oil in carrier oil if you prefer not to use the Rosemary and Peppermint.

I hope this post has been helpful. Feel free to follow me on Instagram and Twitter. Have a wonderful weekend.
